Requesting Information
The Ontario Problem Gambling Helpline (OPGH) responds to requests for descriptive and statistical information about the problem gambling treatment services system in Ontario. The OPGH utilizes a computerized registry of statistical and descriptive information which can be extracted in various formats upon request. Information about problem gambling treatment services can be provided as lists of services, labels, overheads, charts, maps, graphs, and mini-directories.
The OPGH plays a significant role in contributing statistical data for the development of public policy and strategic planning concerning problem gambling treatment resources. OPGH responds to requests from provincial and federal government ministries, Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs), social planning bodies, scientists and other researchers, members of the public, service providers and other professionals for summaries of information.
The OPGH provides information about where services are available on a provincial, regional and local basis, and provides information for sound decision-making by quantifying demand and identifying gaps in service.
Examples of Information Requests would be:
| lists of problem gambling treatment services offered within a specific geographical location in Ontario; | |
| maps of the locations of problem gambling services in Northwestern Ontario; | |
| lists of phone numbers of credit and debt counselling agencies, etc. |
Information requests are frequently received from callers seeking resources to assist in their service planning, proposals, reports, research projects and presentations
